We are in heaven here at the Haas home. Our little Andi finally decided to join us.
Andi Lisbeth Haas
Born Monday, January 26, 2009, 11:28 a.m.
7 lbs 9 oz and 19 inches long
Like I said, I had been having false labor almost every night for a week, and so when these contractions woke me up at 12:30 a.m. Monday morning every 3 minutes and there was a terrible snow storm going on outside I was distraught. I figured it had to be real by the way I was feeling, so we decided to brave the storm and head to the hospital in Salt Lake. It took us about 1 1/2 hours to get there with our stop to pick up my mom. We got to the hospital at about 4:00 a.m. and my contractions were still going strong, until we walked in the door, of course :) I was only a 3 1/2 and after an hour of practically running the halls I was still only a 3 with weak contractions. I was devastated. So when the midwife came and saw me 7:30 and suggested breaking my water I quickly agreed. I certainly didn't want to drive home in the storm just to have to go through the same thing the next night.
So she broke my water at 7:30 and the next 4 hours were obviously full of excruciating pain. At last I went from a 7 to delivery in about 15 minutes. I was amazed at how fast it went there at the end. My midwife barely made it back to catch the baby.
Anyway, all is well. We are so thrilled to have Andi in our family. So far she has been an amazing little baby. She has been sleeping and eating great. We will see how long it lasts!
Question for all you moms of girls out there. I need some good tips on how to do her hair. I tried to spike it up this morning and it just looked terrible. I thought the nurses said they used baby shampoo. Any advice? Poor girl :)
Time to go home!
First family photo. The boys were thrilled.
She's in good hands right?
Maybe not here :)

Check out those eyelashes! I don't know where she gets them. Definitely not from me.

darcy,
she's absolutely gorgeous! congratulations!
Congratulations! She is beautiful! As far as her hair is concerned, I used baby lotion to spike it. If you want the bows to stick, use a tiny dot of washable Elmer's glue... It peels right off.
Darcy she is so gorgeous!!! Congratulations... girls are so much fun... I used ky jelly to make her hair spike.... try that. I am so happy for you guys and I hope all is well. Keep us updated on her!!! Andi is such a cute name for a girl!! I love it.
adorable...congrats! I don
t know what to tell you about the hair. Ellia's was like five inches in the middle and practically bald everywhere else...plus i still don't know what to do with hers!
hooray! congratulations. i love girl babies. eliza is sitting on my lap with some super crazy hair right now so i'm not the one to give any tips. i guess enjoy playing with it while she'll keep things in her hair. congrats again! what a great mom and dad.
she is beautiful. I don't know what to tell you with her hair. My babies are bald till they are 2.
Oh dear....she is beautiful! Congratulations! And yes, as always, you're my hero for doing the entire thing without medicine. Hair...poor Jade...her hair's always a mess. But with Sage, I was ultra obsessed with keeping bows in it. I'd twist it between my fingers on the top and put a little velcro bow that I'd made in it. Also, after washing, a tiny bit of jell and soft comb works to get a cute little part with a bow on the side. Can't wait to see her!
Congrats to you and your family...she is a doll, and I am thrilled for you. I use a little of petroleum jelly to spike hair and keep it down on my little one.
I love, LOVE her name too.
Beautiful..absolutely gorgeous! I love her darling name...she looks so sweet!
Try baby lotion. It smells yummy and adds a little texture to the hair!
You are going to love having a little girl. There really is something so sweet about them! And your boys are going to be the best big brothers!
Enjoy this amazing time with your sweet Andi. I am so happy for you.
I love her already!
She is absolutely perfect, adorable, sweet & lovable.
No hair advice here, as if it isn't obvious at our home...I am not so good at the hair thing.
So happy for you guys!!!
She is GORGEOUS! I am so jealous of all her hair... I think Halle may barely have that much right now, and she is 17 months. Use baby lotion or pomade (Spelled right???) Congratulations... It didn't seem like you should already be due to have her (Probably not to you right?!) I hope you and baby are doing well. CONGRATS!!!
Oh by the way... that is the cutest name... from start to finish. I love it, and it fits her!
Thanks for all the tips! There may be hope for her after all :)
Yeah! what fun to add a little girl to your home. Yes I Love her name so much! She is adorable and I am so glad things went well. As far as hair goes, it is winter, let her wear a hat, less to deal with for you!
Wow! What a beautiful baby... I can't wait to hold her:) Looks like you've got lots of ideas on how to handle her hair, i like the idea of "it's winter, let her wear a hat". Congratulations!
What a beautiful little girl! Congratulations! I'll bet she has the best big brothers in the world.
Sam and Darcy,
I think the little one is adorable.Sam,I never thought I'd say this but little girls are the best!Sooo much fun.Darcy, sorry I don't know anything about styling baby hair.Love you guys.
Oh she is so precious! Absolutely beautiful. Congrats Darcy! Since I have no girl I have not tried it but my friends have sworn by ky jelly. As weird as that sounds! Anyway, my congrats again and hope you recover quickly - we miss you on the court.
Oh so adorable-- Love the hair! I have tried many hair products since that is what I do for a job and I used a drop of hair gel for Paisley even when she was a newborn, it is water base and is not harmful in anyway.
She is adorable, and fits right in with your cute family. Congrats
She is so beautiful! Her dark hair is such a contrast to Peter's. You're such a brave woman having a baby without an epidural (at least I'm assuming this...). I love the drugs :o). I'm so glad everything went well. When I got your text the other day I was so happy for you!!!! I can't wait to meet little Andi; what a beauty.
What a beautiful baby! She doesn't look very newbornish at all. She is so gorgeous, and I love all of her dark hair. How fun for you to have a girl! I didn't do much with Eden's hair. Since she was born when it was starting to get cold, I just put cute hats on her all the time! Congratulations!
OH MY GOSH, Darcy - she's beautiful!!! I hoped my kids would have masses of dark hair like that, but no luck. I never got any hair to play with for almost two years with my girl, so I just kept those little headband bows on her head...I think they're cute. :) Congratulations - I'm sure you're thrilled to have a baby girl!
Darcy! What a cute family you have! I'm so excited for you and Sam. I hope all is going well.
What a doll!!!!
She is so beautiful!
And her hair, although I graduated from hair school, I've been blessed with bald children, so I have no idea what to do with hair!!
She really is beautiful, and even though charlie is only 6 weeks older then her, she looks so tiny!!!
what a cutie!!!
Have so much fun with that little girl, and it looks like she's already in the high fashion world!
Good luck!
Oh, and elmer's glue really works. I've also heard
ky jelly or honey, but neither worked for us!
I love that you have a girl! Yeah. You will have so much fun with girls. It's amazing how girly they can be even if Mom isn't! My little Ragan is girl through and through. There was not a single thing I could do about it, but I love it. I honestly wish that I had embraced girlyness a little more. Andi is so adorable already! Did your boys have that much dark hair? I can't remember. I wonder if she'll go blond too. Anyway, I'm rambling! Congratulations she's an angel. Love you guys!
Wow! You and Sam sure have cute kids! I am so happy that all went well for you when she finally decided she was ready! As for the hair I would use egg whites. I tried a bunch of stuff on Anna and this worked the best for her. Congrats to your cute family!
Darcy, what a sweet little girl!!! Congrats to you and Sam! You guys are such a cute little family!
You will enjoy your little girl so much! Can you tell already that there's a huge difference in boys and girls?!
As far as the hair, Leah was bald until she was about 6 months old, so I stuck bows to her head with KY. Don't know if that'll work with hair, though.
Congrats again!
